The CDC has confirmed the first human-to-human contact of the coronavirus Thursday.
The transmission occurred in Chicago and the patient is the spouse of the Chicago woman who got the infection after she traveled to Wuhan, China - the epicenter of the virus, according to the CDC and Illinois health officials in a CNBC story.
The patient, a male in his 60s, is currently in good condition, according to the CNBC story.
So far more than 170 people have died in China and more than 8,000 cases have been confirmed all over the world, with the majority in China.
The US has already evacuated diplomats and other Americans on a plane to Riverside County this week. Other countries like Japan, South Korea, countries in Europe are trying to evacuate their citizens.
New cases have appeared in India and the Philippines today. Meanwhile, Russia is closing its borders with China amid the outbreak.
