As people fled in the Maria Fire, which broke out on Halloween night near Somis, Calif., an injured Great Horned Owl was also saved by the Ventura County Fire Department.

The Maria Fire destroyed four structures, is currently 95 percent contained and burned 9,999 acres. The fire was located off of Bradley Road and Solano Verde Drive, Top of South Mt, Santa Paula.

The owl was found in the ashes above Somis Saturday, according to a story published on the Ventura County Star website.

The owl was taken to Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Inc. and is already on the mend, according to the Ventura County Fire Department on their Twitter page.

The crew that found the injured owl also named it --  Ram. (That's the name of the crew's mascot). Oh and because of their favorite NFL team.
