A body was found today on the northbound Ventura (101) Freeway in the Cahuenga Pass, prompting closure of the roadway while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the death.

The body was discovered about 5:30 a.m. near Barham Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Information was not immediately available on the gender or identity of the person.

Two northbound lanes were reopened about 6:45 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened about 90 minutes later, the CHP reported. Traffic was backed up for miles on the 101 in both directions during the morning rush hour.
