Bear Tranquilized after Roaming Around Monrovia

A big bear will be heading back to the woods after being tranquilized by Fish and Wildlife officers in the backyard of a Monrovia home.

The bear, which people in the neighborhood said they've seen before, might have been confused or looking for water.

The bear was spotted before dawn going through garbage cans in an alley off Hillcrest Boulevard, near Mayflower Avenue, and police were sent to monitor its behavior.

Bear continues to roam Monrovia neighborhood. It's creating a commotion, but not being aggressive or threatening. #wildbear @MonroviaCA @KNX1070 pic.twitter.com/BtqMacpgRP
