'Blade Runner' Star Rutger Hauer, Dies at 75

Rutger Hauer, made famous for his role as the rogue leader Roy Batty in Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi film "Blade Runner," has died at 75. 

"He was a wonderful man and terrific actor," his agent, Steve Kenis, told The Hollywood Reporter

Hauer leaves behind his wife Ineke, who he married in 1985.

Born in the small town of Breukelen in the Netherlands on January 23, 1944, Hauer died at home after a "very short illness," according to a statement from his nonprofit, The Rutger Hauer Starfish Association, which focuses on HIV and AIDS awareness. 

Hauer died on Friday July 19 but requested that his death not be reported to the public until his funeral which was held Wednesday.
