A Northern California restaurant is facing the possible suspension of their license after refusing to serve customers who wear a mask.
According to multiple Yelp reviews, the Apple Bistro, located about 40 miles northeast of Sacramento, in Placerville, has been aggressively turning away diners if they're wearing a mask.
Customers have been posting photos of the signs on social media. One sign reads: "No social conditioning. No oxygen deprivation mask. No latex dirty germ spreader."
Since the restaurant has been flooded with negative Yelp reviews, Apple Bistro's owner is accusing Yelp reviewers of slander and implying they will sue.
One customer wrote on social media, "Place needs to be shut down. If it can't respect basic public health requirements in a pandemic, then we can assume that it generally ignores public health requirements. God knows what is crawling around the Apple Bistro."
Despite ongoing arguments and conspiracy theories over the use and effectiveness of face-coverings to stymie the transmission of COVID-19, Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield, made himself very clear when he said, "over the next six weeks we could drive [the virus> into the ground."
Add grocery giant Kroger to the growing list of businesses that require masks, not encourage, inside their premises.
Kroger says starting July 22nd all shoppers will be required to wear a mask or face covering while in stores.
"We are taking this extra step now because we recognize additional precautions are needed to protect our country," company spokeswoman Kristal Howard said.
Kroger owns nearly 2,800 stores across 35 states, including chains such as Ralph's and Dillons.
