Woman Found Dead in Boat Fire at Terminal Island

TERMINAL ISLAND (CNS) - Firefighters called to put out a fire aboard a 28-foot cabin cruiser at Terminal Island today found a woman dead inside, authorities said.

Firefighters were called at 4:05 a.m. to Berth 258 at the Port of Los Angeles at Terminal Island, Los Angles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

 The boat was well-involved in flames when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said. They put out the flames in 16 minutes, then discovered a woman deceased aboard the boat, which was still afloat, Humphrey said.

 Information was not immediately available on the woman's identity or cause of death.

Firefighters conducted a detailed search of the boat and found no other casualties, Humphrey said.
