Another horse has died at Santa Anita Park.
An unraced two-year-old colt named Last Renegade became the 13th horse to die from race or train-related injuries this season at the park, reported NBC 4.
Last Renegade was euthanized after suffering an injury while working with his trainer Peter Eurton, according to the California Horse Racing Board's website, the outlet said.
The colt "threw his rider, ran loose, and went over the inside rail. He was ambulanced back to his barn where he was attended by his private veterinarian but died shortly thereafter,” a spokesperson for the Horse Racing Board told City News Service.
Santa Anita Park has not issued a statement regarding the latest fatality.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Santa Anita has been closed since March 27th. They have been allowed to continue training as long as weather permitted.
