The House Judiciary Committee will formally receive the investigative findings for and against the impeachment of President Donald Trump today amid the push of impeachment from the Democrats.
Lawyers Stephen Castor is representing the Republicans while Barry Berke is representing the Democrats. Berke recounted a story from his young son who asked him if the president had to be a good person. Berke said he told his son "it is not a requirement that the president be a good person, but that is the hope," according to a PBS story.
Daniel Goldman, who is a Democratic investigator, said "President Trump’s persistent and continuing effort to coerce a foreign country to help him cheat to win an election is a clear and present danger to our free and fair elections and to our national security."
The GOP counsel is presenting the Republican side of the investigative findings.
The votes on the articles of impeachment will likely to include abuse of power and bribery, obstruction of justice and obstruction of Congress.
The House Judiciary Committee concluded, in a report released last week, that President Trump seriously misused the power of his office for personal political gain by urging the Ukrainian government to investigate Democrats and withholding military aid to the country.
The House Intelligence Committee also released a report of its own citing that "evidence presented does not prove any of these Democrat allegations, and none of the Democrats’ witnesses testified to having evidence of bribery, extortion, or any high crime or misdemeanor."
The Committee has indicated that it will vote on the articles of impeachment before the holidays this month.
