There was a preliminary 5.5 magnitude earthquake reported Wednesday night.
As reported by the Official U.S. Geological Survey on Twitter, it was near Ridgecrest and the Searles Valley.
Dr. Lucy Jones also weighed in on Twitter:
Yes, an earthquake. A M5.5 at the very southern end of the 2019 Ridgecrest aftershock zone. This is a large late aftershock - do you remember that I said these are common?
