The former Miami Heat shooting guard sat down for an interview on a Showtime Basketball show on Youtube called "All the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson," saying that it wasn't people in the LGBTQ community who aren't normal. “They’re normal, they’re not even different … everybody get used to it," Wade said. Adding, “Everybody get used to it, this is the new normal. If anybody different, [we’re> looked at as different, you know what I’m saying? The ones that don’t understand it.
“The ones that don’t get it, the ones stuck in a box. You’re different, not the people out here living their lives, man, you know what I’m saying? Ultimately, you want your kids to be free and live their lives.”
Wade told the podcast hosts, “when I respond to things socially, I’m not responding because you hurt my feelings, I’m not responding because I even care enough about what you’re saying … why I’m responding is because I understand my platform. … I’m speaking for so many others in the LGBTQ+ community.”
“It’s just my version of support," he added.
