LA Superior Court Will Require Maks & Appointments for In-Person Services

Individuals will now need to wear masks and appointments for any in-point services at Los Angeles Superior Court.

The new mandate goes into effect once clerk offices reopen on June 15th, reported NBC Los Angeles.

"To assure the court supports a safe and stable recovery in Los Angeles County, we are opening under a 'Here For You/Safe For You' model that restores access to justice while following public health protocols and guidelines, including wearing a mask," said Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile.

"The public will have the option to access new and expanded online convenient services without coming to the courthouse."

The safety protocol will be in effect for all individuals entering courts including judges, commissioners, court staff, attorneys, witnesses, parties in cases and vendors, the judge said.

Only those with a "documented medical condition or excuse or an Americans with Disabilities Act accommodation approved by the court" will be exempt from wearing a face covering, the outlet reported.

There will also be options to conduct business via phone or online.

Citizens are urged to call the court's Support Services numbers or use the court's website to get assistance and to make an in-person appointment.
