The owners of a Long Beach coffee shop have spent the past two years helping those in need and now they’re in need of some help.
When the pandemic hit, business at Long Beach Coffee and Tea at Pine & 5th in downtown Long Beach, dropped dramatically. Many of their regulars have since picked up stakes and moved, but Tom West and his fiancé Shannon Francis have continued to feed, cloth, and assist homeless people in the area.
During a visit with KNX reporter Margaret Carrero, the couple fed two people and called the paramedics to assist a man who was having trouble.
They weren’t able to get a PPP loan because they’ve never paid themselves a paycheck, and now they have bills piling up. They’ve started a Go Fund Me page which has raised more than $10,000 of a $50,000 goal.
