The number of children who allege they were violated by a 30-year-old man who worked as a nanny in Laguna Beach has grown to eight.
Charges have been filed in connection with seven of them.
Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski, 30, of Costa Mesa was arrested May 17 as he was deplaning from an international flight.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office told KNX reporter Cooper Rummell that prosecutors will be working toward a life sentence in this case.
Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jim Cota says detectives identified a "grooming" pattern the man is accused of using on each child; adding that investigators are in contact with roughly 30 families who hired the 'manny' and he believes there will ultimately be more alleged victims.
He was also charged with one felony count of possessing child pornography; three felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14, and one felony count of oral copulation of a child under the age of 10.
Earlier this month, a Laguna Beach couple reported that Zakrzewski had touched their 8-year-old son inappropriately.
He faces 90 years to life in prison if convicted.
The Laguna Beach Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying any other potential victims. Anyone with more information can call (949) 715-1300.
