Owners of nail salons are holding a rally in Westminster Monday afternoon, saying it's time to reopen and they're suing California Gov. Newsom.

They are demanding a path to reopening like hair salons and an apology from the Governor as well.

The Pro Nails Association is planning to file a lawsuit against Newsom and other state agencies. More than 80 percent of the state's nail salon employees and owners are of Vietnamese descent.

So far, hair salons have been allowed to reopen last month in LA County, but not nail salons.

They also want a public apology from Newsom who initially said the first case of community spread was in a nail salon in California last month when it has now been reported that is not the case.

The reopening of nail salons is in phase 3 of the state's reopening plans  - high-risk workplaces - and modifying the Stay at Home orders.
