The Getty Fire began around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and, driven by strong winds, quickly burned through brush west of the 405 Freeway.
All Los Angeles Unified School District campuses that were closed today will be closed again Tuesday.

Due to the Getty Fire, the following schools are closed today, Oct. 28. Transportation to and from these schools is also canceled. Absences will not be counted against a student's record.
Los Angeles Unified has also confirmed that the following independent charter schools are closed Monday:

Magnolia Science Academy, #4 and #6
Palisades Charter High School
Santa Monica-Malibu School District, UCLA and Santa Monica College.
The Department of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles says the following Catholic elementary schools are closed today due to Getty and Tick fires: Corpus Christi in Pacific Palisades, St. Anne Mission School in Santa Monica, St. Cyril of Jerusalem in Encino, St. Martin of Tours School in Brentwood, St. Monica School in Santa Monica, St. Paul the Apostle School in West L.A. and St. Sebastian School in West L.A. St. Monica High School in Santa Monica is also closed.
The list of closures will be updated online at AngelusNews.com as schools report closures to DCS. Schools are informing parents directly of any school closures. Parents with any questions regarding the closures are asked to contact the student's school main office.
