LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Firefighters today extinguished a smoldering fire in a building under construction on the grounds of Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:20 a.m. at 4650 W. Sunset Blvd. and was extinguished in about an hour, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"A pesky fire was smoldering in a part of the building under construction and creating a smoke problem in one or more underground levels," Prange said.

"The source of the smoke has been located and eliminated," he said. "This incident is reported to not be affecting any of the pediatric patients elsewhere on the property, so far."

Firefighters were working this afternoon to ventilate the area.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
