(KNX 1070) - After receiving thousands of tips from around the world, police were finally led to a Newport Beach man and wanted fugitive, who is accused of murdering his wife nearly seven years ago.

They received thousands of tips from all over the world.

Peter Chadwick was living a meager existence while on the lam in Mexico.

An Orange County millionaire in court Wednesday morning in Santa Ana after spending the last four years on the lam. Prosecutors will be asking for no bail and he is looking at 25 years to life as presently charged.

Officials say Peter Chadwick was apparently getting some financial help from family and friends after using up the cash he took with him when he fled.

When Chadwick was arrested in Mexico on Sunday he was found with multiple ID's and was using a series of fake names.

Believed to have been hiding out in Mexico since he disappeared back in 2015 after posting $1 million bail a few years earlier, Chadwick was also on the US Marshals 15 Most Wanted list.

US Marshal David Singer says Chadwick was forced to keep moving.

Newport Beach Police Chief Jon Lewis says they received a number leads that looked promising. He said Chadwick was located in Mexico on Sunday thanks to a tip.

He says the first signs that something was wrong back in 2012 were found in the Chadwick’s master bedroom when officers did a welfare check after their kids were not picked up after school.

Orange County DA Todd Spitzer says Chadwick took his wife of 21 years from the paradise of their home and mercilessly dumped her body in a dumpster.

Right now, Chadwick is facing one count of murder and 25 years to life if he’s convicted.

— Margaret Carrero (@KNXmargaret) August 6, 2019 A millionaire, who went on the run after being charged with murdering his wife at their Newport Beach home seven years ago, is back in custody again.

Reports say Peter Chadwick was arrested yesterday in Mexico and has now been turned over to American authorities.

But the details of his capture are still unclear.

Investigators believe Chadwick strangled his wife of 21 years, Quee Chadwick, inside their home after a heated argument in October 2012. Her body was found in a trash bin in San Diego County in 2012.

He claimed that she'd been kidnapped and killed by a handyman.

But he was later charged with her death and then became a fugitive after failing to show up for a court hearing in 2015.

Last September, there was a renewed effort to find Chadwick.
