Los Angeles has been called an isolating and lonely city. It's nothing but highways and a mass of people sitting in cars, listening to podcasts or music.
Nobody walks in LA, or so the saying goes.
But what if you could take a walk with a friendly stranger in the city of Angels?
That's the basis behind a new app called "People Walker" that pairs people in need of walks, conversation and exercise with a professional, safe and reliable "walker" -- for a fee.
You log into the app and can even pick which person to go on a walk with. Location and time are also chosen.
For a stroll and conversation, it'll cost you $7 per 30 minutes.
The website says the app is a "quick and easy way to get you out of your chair and moving, leaving you happier, healthier, and more connected than before."
Chuck McCarthy, founder of the People Walker app, says the walkers are vetted with background checks, interview process, and submitting a job application.
"All the people we have gotten so far have been amazing," he said.
McCarthy said he got the idea as he was walking and saw dog walker and personal trainer signs and jokingly said "Maybe I'll walk people."
He said "there are a lot of people who just need to walk."
He explained why and how he started the app in the video above.
