Captain Ann Stephens of the Apex Police Department in Apex, North Carolina was recorded by a fellow officer during a scam phone call.

An internet sensation, the post on the Apex PD Facebook has had over 10,000 shares so far.

“These are scam calls,” Stephens said. “Don’t ever give out your information. Don’t ever verify their information even if they have it.

The caller claims to be an officer named "John Black," and an employee of the Social Security Administration. Without knowning he's talking to an actual law enforcement officer, he demands that she cooperate.

The man tells Stephens that there are five phony bank accounts in her name, she she allegedly used to commit more than $10 million worth of fraud, globally.

"Don’t send money and don’t provide bank account numbers or birth dates," Stephens warns.

“They’re scammers,” she says. “Just hang up on them or have a little fun.”
