You have exactly a year to make sure you get your Real ID because you'll need it on October 1, 2020 in order to get onto an airplane.
You'll also need a Real ID to enter federal facilities.
Here's what you need to apply for a Real ID to make sure you are federally compliant:
-One of the following: passport, original or certified copy of birth certificate, or a valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card. - One of the following: Social Security card, W-2 form or Social Security Administration (SSA) 1099 form. - Two proofs of residency: rental agreement, lease agreement, utility bill, a tax return, medical or employment documents.
In this state, you must complete your transactions in person at a DMV field office. Be sure to make an appointment before you go: https://www.dmv.org/ca-california/appointments.php
