(KNX 1070) - A new bill in Sacramento would try to stop companies from selling DMV appointments.
One company named "Yo Gov" promises to get people an appointment with the DMV within three or four weeks for a fee as low as $25.
If you book an appointment with the DMV on your own, you could wait for about two months.
"Yo Gov" will even have someone wait in line for you too at an extra cost.
Company CEO Ryder Pearce tells KNX he's not worried about this bill.
"We don't sell appointments. If you were to ask us to look for an appointment on your behalf because you are at work or with family, we will do that for you as part of a service we provide, which has a number of other things," he said.
Long Beach Republican Assemblyman Tyler Diep wrote the bill and says the government is about leveling the playing field so that poor people are not being treated any different than others.
