(KNX 1070) - Federal workers, who have been financially slammed by the government shutdown, will be getting a helping hand from the City of Los Angeles.

Mayor Eric Garcetti says the city will announce on Friday that it will offer federal workers, affected by the government shutdown, zero-interest loans to help them avoid more financial difficulties. The plans of the effort have not been released.

Help is on the way for federal workers at LAX, who've gone without pay during the partial government shutdown.

The Mayor and other local officials will be outlining the details of the plan at a news conference at LAX Friday afternoon.
