The forecast for our wildfire season this summer is ominous.

The prediction comes from the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho.

The center's Brian Henry says that we could get serious fires from as early as next month:

"...Long range models, in fact, all of them have shown for a couple of months that there is a chance we could get periodic shots of moisture in from the Pacific throughout the summer months and that might help things from becoming as dry as they have in years past," he said.

The trouble with that is that the moisture could also trigger thunder storms and set off fires that way.

The report says that heavy rain over the winter has left plenty of fuel to burn.
