(KNX 1070) - The Orange County District Attorney’s office has found no criminal conduct on the part of Santa Ana and Fullerton police officers involved in two deadly shootings last year.

"It was determined there was no criminal conduct by responding law enforcement officers from Santa Ana Police Department and Fullerton Police Department in relation to these incidents," according to the press release from the OC DA.

One video is from May 31, 2018 in the fatal stabbing involving Katherine Ann Brazeau by the Fullerton Police Department.

A sergeant and corporal from Fullerton Police Department last May responded to a frantic 911 call from a therapist who was stabbed by a former patient and both were locked in her office.

They kicked open the door, and yelled for the woman to drop the knife but she instead raised it overhead as if to strike again and that’s when they opened fire and got the therapist out of there.

Video footage below, from the Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer Youtube,  shows two officers making their way to an office after a 911 phone call recording of a woman screaming "I've been stabbed!" over and over again.

The Orange County DA said "a jury analyzing these facts if we were to present this case against the officers would correctly conclude these officers acted reasonably and justifiably."

According to a letter from Spitzer to the Fullerton Police Department detailing the investigation and legal conclusion, Jane Doe was a therapist who was treating Brazeau. "Therapist Doe had been treating Brazeau for various illnesses including traumatic brain injury, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder. However, in February 2018, Therapist Doe determined she could no longer provide treatment to Brazeau citing “self-destructive decisions” that Brazeau engaged in and Brazeau not utilizing the tools Therapist Doe was providing her. Therapist Doe provided Brazeau with a 30-day notice which informed Brazeau that Therapist Doe would no longer provide treatment to Brazeau. Brazeau did not take the notice well. Brazeau made comments about knowing where Therapist Doe lived and threatened to harm herself if Therapist Doe discontinued treating her," according to the letter.

In the other case from July, after repeatedly telling a suspected car burglar to drop a metal stake, a Santa Ana Police officer first fired his taser and then his gun, killing the man. Spitzer found no evidence to support criminal conduct on the part of the officer.

In a letter from the OC DA to the department, the letter details how the officer-involved shooting "incident occurred on the evening of July 1, 2018, inside a parking structure located at 1020 West Civic Center Drive in the city of Santa Ana."
