Human Remains Found in Malibu

 MALIBU (CNS) - Authorities today were investigating the discovery of human remains in Malibu.

The "remains of an unknown individual" were discovered late Monday afternoon near Latigo Canyon and Calicut roads, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Information was not immediately available on the gender or identity of the person whose remains were found.

"Sheriff's homicide investigators (and) Los Angeles County coroner investigators waited to respond until sufficient daylight was available (Tuesday morning) for the investigation," a sheriff's statement said. "The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time."
