It's Dodgers Opening Day!

The LA Dodgers will begin the regular baseball season at Chavez Ravine this afternoon before a crowd of 56,000.

"This is our 58th Opening Day here at Dodger Stadium and it is just so wonderful to have a park that is third oldest in the major leagues but feels so new and fresh and so different than the other 29 major league parks. What's so great about that? Becuase it's Dodgers Stadium," Janet Marie Smith of the Dodgers said.

Smith of the Dodgers tells KNX that the franchise has focused on upgrading food and drink over the offseason, and has also opened up many parts of the stadium so it's easier to move around. The Dodgers face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

LA police spokesman Chris Ramirez tells KNX that traffic will be a problem this afternoon:

"Expect heavy delays in traffic, parking restrictions. If you gotta go to work on time, leave early. If you want to get to the game, leave early just to avoid those heavy congested areas," he said.

Officers will be patrolling the area around Chavez Ravine to enforce the zero- tolerance policy for drinking in public around the stadium.

Fans headed to opening day at Dodger Stadium today are being warned by the Los Angeles Police Department about temporary tow away and no-parking restrictions.

Strict enforcement will be in effect. No parking signs will be at the following locations between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.:

-- Avenue of the Palms, also known as Stadium Way, between Scott Road and Academy Road;

-- Academy Road between Morton Avenue and Stadium Way; and

-- Scott Avenue between Boylston Street and Elysian Park Drive.

Officers will also be patrolling the area to enforce the zero- tolerance policy for drinking in public and parks around the stadium, according to a statement from the LAPD. Fans were also reminded there is no tailgating in Dodger Stadium's parking lots.

Police warned fans who drive to the game and buy tickets near the stadium to be aware of scalpers who may sell fraudulent tickets. Undercover officers will be in the area enforcing illegal ticket sales in the hours leading up to the game.
