(KNX 1070) -- The Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division is seeking help from the public in providing information that would help to identify a suspect involved in a hit and run crash that killed a 78-year-old Los Angeles resident.
A commercial charter bus heading southbound on Flower Street in downtown, when it struck the elderly man.
The bus dragged the man from Flower Street to Adams Boulevard, despite efforts from witnesses to get the driver's attention. The bus was last seen on an onramp to the 110 freeway.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police have identified the bus company and detectives intend to interview the driver during the investigation.
The identity of the man is being withheld until his family is notified.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
