Michael Avenatti is expected to make his first federal court appearance in Santa Ana today.
He's facing charges of bank and wire fraud.
The Newport Beach attorney has been accused by federal prosecutors of embezzling more than a million dollars of a client's settlement money to pay off his own expenses and debts, including his coffee business, Tully's Coffee located in California and Washington State.
Prosecutors have also accused the attorney of defrauding a bank in Mississippi to get loans of more than $4 million through bogus income tax returns.
