(KNX 1070/CNS) -- A white woman stopped on suspicion of drunken driving in Florida told a black deputy she would have the Ku Klux Klan burn crosses on his yard.

Now 53-year-old Julie Edwards faces additional charges of resisting and threatening an officer.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says the deputy responded to a report of a disturbance last week and found Edwards backing up into the driveway of her home in DeLand, Florida. An arrest report says Edwards smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal posted audio of the threats, recorded by the deputy's body camera.

Her attorney in the public defender's office didn't respond Friday to an email seeking comment.

When a Volusia Country Sheriff's deputy took a report on a woman in Florida, her violent and racist tirade was captured on his body camera.

Brandon King, an African American deputy, responded to a call of a disturbance at a home DeLand, Florida. When he arrived he saw Edwards, 53, attempting to leave her car, according to the report.

King observed that Edwards' breath smelled of alcohol and was obviously slurring her words. He requested she take a breathalyzer test, but she refused. Instead, she began ranting at King, threatening that her "KKK friends would burn his family” and that “ni**ers should’ve never been let out of slavery," according to Buzzfeed News

After King handcuffed Edwards she was heard saying, "Ain’t a damn thing wrong with a burning cross in your hard, is there?” She added: “You fu**ed with the wrong White people." Adding, “You should never be here in the first place. You ever been whipped on a whipping post?” At one point, she said, "niggers should've never been let out of slavery."

In an edited version of the video released by the sheriff's office Tuesday, King warned Edwards, “Before you go on a racist rant, just remember we have body cameras."

Edwards is facing charges of making threats against a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, driving under the influence, and prior refusal to submit to testing.

As @SheriffChitwood put it: "Watch this if you need any more proof there's no expiration date on ignorance."You may have heard someone made racist threats against one of our deputies. Before you go on a racist rant, just remember we have body cams.*Warning: Racist language* pic.twitter.com/RZDuph1lZo
