Search Continues for 2 Missing Hikers in Mount Baldy Area

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in finding two hikers who are missing in the Mount Baldy area since Saturday.

A caller reported their friends Eric Desplinter and Gabrielle Wallace missing Saturday to the sheriff's department. 

The two were believed to be headed toward Cucamonga Peak, according to the SB County Sheriff's Department press release.

 The caller reported them missing at 8 p.m Saturday after both were supposed to return by 7 p.m. They were both reported last being seen Saturday morning.

 Deputies responded to the area where the hikers’ vehicle was parked and led a search.

Desplinter is an experienced hiker and was last seen wearing a yellow jacket and green pants.  Wallace was last seen wearing a gray sweater and jeans. 

They are believed to have a limited amount of food and water.Helicopters have been actively searching for the two hikers as well as Search and Rescue volunteers on foot. Additionally, on Monday, the department asked for additional help from the California Office of Emergency Services.  Anyone who may have seen the two hikers in the Mount Baldy area is asked to Sheriff’s Dispatch. 

Additionally, anyone who may be going up to the Mount Baldy / Cucamonga Peak areas and sees the subjects is asked to call.
