(KNX 1070) -- A student has been kicked out of Stanford in reaction to the nationwide college admissions scandal.
The university says she's been expelled because she put fake information on her application claiming she had "sailing credentials" that might have qualified her as a student-athlete.
She actually wound up getting admitted as a regular student.
The girl's family contributed $500,000 to the school's sailing-program through coach John Vandemoer, who's admitted taking bribes, according to a statement from Stanford released March 21.
“Any credits earned have also been vacated. The student is no longer on Stanford’s campus,” according to the university’s statement posted on April 2.
