Two officers were wounded and a male suspect has died in an officer-involved shooting in the 300 block of South Market Street in Inglewood Wednesday.

It was initially reported by police that the suspect had died but he was in critical condition Wednesday until he died at the hospital.

Authorities in Inglewood are trying to sort out a shooting of a man with a sword at a Scientology church that sent two officers to the hospital. The suspect died at the hospital,  and both officers suffered non-life threatening injuries.  Lieutenant Oscar Mejia was asked whether this might have been a case of friendly fire:

" We don't know that yet. Anything is a possibility at this point but we are still trying to sift through the evidence to determine what actually took place," he said.

The Church of Scientology International has praised police for their actions.
