Lifeguards in San Diego are reminding people at the beach to watch out for stingrays.
San Diego fire spokeswoman Monica Munoz tells KNX as it warms up more people head to the beach so there are more encounters with stingrays.
"They can shuffle their feet on the bottom of the ocean versus stepping because stingrays aren't out to get people but if they're stepped on, their reaction is to sting," she said.
She says when a person gets stung contact a lifeguard immediately.
The lifeguards will then treat injured swimmers by soaking their feet in hot water to deactivate the venom.
