Although US Weekly reported Friday that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes will not return to the third hour of Good Morning America following their hiatus, a representative for ABC News told 1010 WINS “there is no truth to this report.”
According to US Weekly, “multiple sources exclusively” revealed the news about the hosts. After photos of Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45 – who were both married, though Holmes and his wife filed for divorce last month – holding hands and more surfaced in November, both were put on hiatus.
However, they did appear on air together Dec. 1, after the photos were released. While on-air, they quipped about looking forward to the weekend. A few days later ABC president Kim Godwin announced at an editorial meeting that Robach and Holmes would not appear on air due to the scandal becoming a disruption, according to Variety.
Last month, more photos of the couple were made public, including some of Robach and Holmes kissing.
“Amy and T.J are out, a decision has been made,” a source told US Weekly of the hosts, per the Friday report. “The network is negotiating with them on their exit deals and an announcement.”
Both Robach and Holmes are still named in the opening credits of GMA3, said the outlet, and Robach still listed her self as a host on her Twitter profile as of Friday afternoon.
TMZ also reported Friday that “sources with direct knowledge” said both anchors have hired lawyers.
“ABC has not clued in T.J. or Amy as to why they were taken off the air a month ago,” per the sources cited by TMZ. “We’re told they're confused and frustrated why the ABC News brass at first told people internally there would be no disciplinary action, and then the company did an about-face.”
According to TMZ, Robach has hired Andrew Brettler and T.J. “has lawyered up with Eric George.”
