A TV show based on world-renowned chef Julia Child is coming to HBO Max.

On Thursday, the streamer announced that it has given the green-light to an eight-episode series titled “Julia.”

“Happy Valley” actress Sarah Lancashire will star in the titular role, while “Frasier’s” David Hyde Pierce will co-star as her husband, Paul.

According to the press release, Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz, Fiona Glascott, Bebe Neuwirth, Isabella Rossellini and Jefferson Mays will also appear in the series.

Production is set to resume in the late spring in Boston, where the pilot was filmed.

“We are so happy to help bring the incomparable Julia Child back to the small screen, when we need her more than ever. This show’s look into her life, marriage, and trailblazing career as she transformed the way we talk about food is an absolute delight," said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max.

“Our incredible cast and formidable creative team are a recipe for success, and we couldn’t be more excited,” Aubrey added.

The series, first announced in September 2019, is inspired by Child’s life and the long-running series “The French Chef,” which pioneered cooking programs.

“Through Julia and her singular can-do spirit, the series explores an evolving time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural growth,” the release noted.

Chris Keyser, whose credits include “Party of Five” and “The Society”, will serve as showrunner on the drama.

“Julia” joins an evolving roster on HBO Max, which includes the recently announced “Sex and the City” revival, a “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gossip Girl” reboot,” and the second season of “The Flight Attendant.”
