Apple iPhone and iPad users can now finally unlock their devices with Face ID while wearing a mask, even though those days may be behind us, in addition to plenty of other new features in the latest iOS 15.4 update that launched on Tuesday.
Ready to upgrade? If so, go to the settings application on your phone or iPad, then tap on general, and then software update. If you're tight on storage space on your device, then you'll probably have to delete some old videos or offload unused apps to download the 1.05 GB update. It requires a massive 2.07 GB of available storage to install.
Face ID users will have to update their settings if they want their device to recognize them with a mask on. That could be a little tricky "because the feature uses a smaller portion of your face to verify your identity," according to CNET, "you'll need to be more precise about the angle you're holding your phone at when using Face ID."

Of course everyone's favorite part about an iOS update is the addition of new emojis. This time there will be 37 new emojis, as they were reveled by Unicode in September.
The newbies include a melting face, a face with a peeking eye, a face holding back tears, a bunch of new hand gestures -- the hands in the shape of the heart will be a fan favorite. There are also new options for pregnant people, a troll, beans, pouring liquid from a glass, a playground slide, and many more.
The other major addition in iOS 15.4 is universal control, which will allow users to easily access other Apple devices as a second screen. That means you could set up a keyboard and mouse to control your iMac, MacBook, and iPad all at once, per 9to5mac.com.
The Universal Control feature is still in beta, so users may notice some difficulties with it along the way. A Mac is also required for this feature, so those with multiple iPads won't be able to try it out for now.
Apple is also launching a new voice option for Siri that was recorded by a member of the LGBTQ+ community, adding to their expanding list of more diverse voice options.
"We’re excited to introduce a new Siri voice for English speakers, giving users more options to choose a voice that speaks to them," Apple said in a statement to Axios in February. "Millions of people around the world rely on Siri every day to help get things done, so we work to make the experience feel as personalized as possible."
Some of the other new features that come along with iOS 15.4 include updates to shortcut animations, Tap to Pay on iPhone, additional widgets, and an improved SharePlay system. There is also a safety update for AirTags, following number of incidents where the small, quarter sized devices were being used to stalk women by slipping them into a personal belonging like a purse or jacket pocket.
All of the new features on iOS 15.4 can be seen in the description when you go to download the software on your devices.
