One person is dead and two others have been hospitalized after a truck crashed into an Anaheim apartment complex Tuesday afternoon, California High Patrol has confirmed.
The big rig dump truck hit the Corsican Apartment Homes at 400 South Sunkist Street just before 12:40 p.m., according to CHP.
CHP officer Florentino Olivera told The Orange County Register that the truck collided with a vehicle that had stopped on the 57 Freeway off ramp at Lincoln Avenue. It then went off road, careening through a field, hitting a brick wall and smashing into the complex. Olivera said the truck struck two more vehicles before continuing through a carport and plowing a hole through one of the buildings on the property. It came to a stop after colliding with a second building.
One resident was killed when the truck struck the second building. The driver and the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the chain of collisions was also taken to an area hospital for treatment.
