One person was found dead and another is in serious condition Friday after a fire at a single-family residence in Palm Desert.
Firefighters were called at 1:12 a.m. Friday to the 78800 block of Tamarisk Flower Drive where arriving fire crews found the single-story structure with heavy fire showing at the front of the residence, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

One person died at the scene and a second victim was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.
Two victims were rescued from the residence by firefighters, the fire department said.
Representatives from the Riverside County Building and Safety Department were contacted to assess the condition of the residence.
