Officers were sent at 7:09 a.m. to the 4300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard to investigate a report that a male had fallen onto the tracks at the Leimert Park Station platform and was run over by a train, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
Firefighters responded and found one deceased person on the tracks, according to Lyndsey Lantz of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It was not immediately clear how the victim ended up on the tracks.
Metro announced that trains will bypass the Leimert Park Station in both directions, with riders directed to use either the MLK Jr. Station or to use bus service on Crenshaw Boulevard.
