LOS ANGELES (KNX) — One person suffered burn injuries Tuesday in an explosion at a Hyde Park home, but authorities said the person was not cooperating with paramedics for evaluation.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call at a one-story home just after 8 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 78th Street. Firefighters found smoke coming from the home.

“Further investigation discovered a detached garage with obvious signs of [an] explosion,” said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart.

The cause of the explosion was being investigated.

Stewart said there was no active fire, but crews would be overhauling the structure to “ensure no smoldering hot spots remain.”

Building and Safety as well as SoCalGas also responded to the scene, Stewart said.
