1 killed, 2 injured in South L.A. collision

A woman was killed and two others were injured, one critically, in a two-vehicle collision that trapped two people in South Los Angeles and Friday police are looking for the driver who struck them.

Firefighters responded at 9:30 p.m. Thursday to 5720 S. Figueroa St., near 58th Street, where they used hydraulic tools to free the trapped victims, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old man was taken to a hospital in critical condition and a 5-year-old boy was also in the hospital in moderate condition.

Fox 11 reported that the victim was the boy's mother and the man in critical condition the child's father.
