A major wildlife crossing along the 101 freeway in Agoura is getting closer to completion, and at least one freeway on-ramp will be closed for two months during the construction.
This phase of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing construction involves putting down a natural habitat atop the concrete structure. The Liberty Canyon on-ramp to the northbound 101 freeway will be closed until early May to be used as an unloading site for landscaping materials.
“This is enough material to cover more than half of a football field size area, and it includes boulders, it includes shale rocks,” Caltrans spokesman Mike Comeaux told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou.
Comeau said the closure will accelerate progress by allowing crews to work longer hours without having to close and reopen the ramp at the beginning and end of each shift.

Drivers will be redirected to the Lost Hills and Cheseboro Road on-ramps during the closure. Caltrans officials say the work should be done by the first week of May.
