“Laguna Beach Police Rangers quickly located and detained two juveniles for questioning,” a statement by police read. “After further investigation, the juveniles were determined to be witnesses, not suspects. Officers later obtained video evidence clearly showing a juvenile suspect lighting a firework and fleeing the scene.”

Police found the boy and “obtained search warrants for his arrest and the seizure of electronic devices.” He faces a possible felony charge of reckless burning of forest land.

He was processed and released to his parents.

The fire, which started around 2 p.m., forced evacuations and grew to about four acres before firefighters gained control.

Anyone with any additional information or video related to the fire is encouraged to call the Laguna Bech Police Department Detective Bureau at 949-715-0984
