15-year-old killed in shooting during South L.A. street takeover

Police were continuing their efforts Monday to locate the suspects responsible for fatally shooting a teenage boy and injuring another during a street takeover in South Los Angeles.

The shooting occurred around 12:40 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of 54th Street and Western Avenue, where two 15-year-old teenage boys were shot while attending a street takeover, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to police, the teens observed another person possibly being robbed moments before the suspects ran toward a waiting vehicle, all while firing shots at the teenagers, striking them both, then fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

The victims were both taken to a hospital, where one of the boys died. The other was hospitalized with stable vital signs.
