After years of litigation, two Orange County school districts have reached a combined 4.8 million dollar settlement in a sex abuse case.
Attorneys representing all six of the women, now adults, say they were in their teens when the alleged abuse occurred at the hand of a prominent water polo coach in both Anaheim and Irvine high school districts.
The coach was sentenced to prison last year for sexually assaulting teenage girls over several years, and one of the attorneys, Morgan Stewart, told a KNX News reporter Nataly Tavidian he is pleased with the settlement, even if it is "long overdue."

"It should have been resolved several years ago. Unfortunately, the school districts didn't own up to their responsibility until there was pressure of a trial," said Stewart.
Two of the girls in this case received a settlement of $2.5 million from Irvine Unified High School District, and four women received a settlement from Anaheim Unified High School District close to the same amount.
Stewart said the victims at the time of the abuse ranged in age from 13 up to 17, and they ultimately decided to report the coach to protect their younger sisters and others who were coming through the program.
KNX News has reached out to both school districts for comment but have yet to hear back.
