2 people suspected of transnational drug, firearms trafficking arrested

Two people were arrested as part of a years-long investigation into an international enterprise allegedly involved in narcotic and firearms trafficking, Los Angeles police said Friday.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Gang and Narcotics Division, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations Los Angeles Cargo Group agents and additional law enforcement agencies, executed multiple search warrants across Los Angeles County on Thursday, police said.

Jose Lamson and Reece Smith were arrested by HSI special agents during the operation, police said, and items such as methamphetamine and multiple firearms were recovered as evidence. No specific details were released about where the arrests took place.

The investigation was continuing.
