Three dogs were rescued from a home that was set on fire in East Hollywood on Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out around 9:45 a.m. at a one-story duplex on Kenmore Ave. A woman who lives in the home with her husband told KNX News’ Emily Valdez her mother is the one who broke in and set the fire.

The resident, who requested anonymity, said she escaped with one dog, and two others were safely rescued by firefighters. A fourth dog was found safe in the detached garage.

Firefighters were able to save most of the house, but the extent of the damage is still unclear.

“I'm just pretty stressed out right now because I don't have house insurance or anything and I'm not working, I’m still healing from my surgery,” the woman said.

The resident’s mother was arrested at the scene.
