Five people were detained Tuesday night in connection with the death of a young boy whose body was found near a dumpster in Panorama City.
A man and a woman were detained at an apartment complex in the 14500 block of Lanark Street after police received a tip, according to Megan Aguilar with the Los Angeles Police Department. The two children inside the apartment were taken into custody by the Department of Children's Services.
Around 1 a.m., police detained two men and a woman in North Hollywood near Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue.
While police have not publicly identified those who were detained, one of the people detained is believed to be the parents or the guardian of the boy.
The boy was found dead on July 12 in the 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, according to Norma Eisenman with the LAPD.

A memorial for the boy was created where police found him. One woman told KNX News’ Jon Baird she knows the boy.
“Him and his mother and I, we were all homeless in Hollywood,” she said. “So I was always a mom. I'm a mom myself. I have 3 kids. My kids always bonded with her kids”
She also lashed out at two people she believes are responsible for the little boy’s death, saying she hoped they would “rot in jail for the rest of their lives.”
