High winds have toppled a 50ft tall tree onto a home in Pico Rivera.

As KNX News' Pete Demetriou reports, the tree crashed down on a single-family home on Rosemead Blvd.

In addition to the damage to the home, there was concern regarding electrical lines in the area as one of the branches clipped a powerline on its way down.

A deputy on the scene told Demetriou that SoCal Edison had to shut power to all the housing units in the area, but of the five or six homes attached, only the one was damaged.

At the time of the incident, there were two people inside the home, one of whom suffered minor injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Crews arrived to cut the tree apart so a city engineer can get inside the home and see if it should be yellow or red-tagged.
